In an age where climate change threatens the survival of generations to come, the impetus for the development of clean energy is at an all-time high. The added
need for energy diversification due to high fossil fuel prices and recent technological advances has also fuelled global interest in clean energy and in
particular, solar energy.In Singapore, a number of companies are involved in the clean energy industry in various ways, The government itself has committed S$350 million (US$228 million) to develop Singapore as a global clean energy hub over the next five years, including S$170 million (US$111 million) from the National Research Foundation (NRF) with the main emphasis on solar power.
Our organization, Solar Energy Power Pte Ltd (SEP) in collaboration with Frankfurt-listed Solar- Fabrik AG believes that it makes sense to embark on such an
initiative now in view of the potential for growth as the industry is achieving ‘grid-parity’ – meaning that it would soon be as cost-efficient to generate
electricity from the sun as it is from burning fossil fuels.
The market for solar photovoltaics is healthy and robust and Singapore's good economic, political stability and communications infrastructure will instil a lot of confidence in worldwide partners and collaborators. As Singapore's first solar cell manufacturing plant, SEP is well positioned to produce competitively priced solar products for the local as well as foreign markets.
